Product Overview

A laboratory oil bath is a high-temperature constant-temperature heating device that uses thermal oil as the heat transfer medium. It is mainly used for distillation, drying, concentration, and impregnation of chemicals or biological products. It can also be used for constant-temperature heating and various temperature-related experiments. Laboratory oil baths are commonly used in research laboratories in the fields of biology, genetics, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, environmental protection, and higher education.

The oil bath works by using an electric heating tube to heat the thermal oil inside the bath. The high specific heat capacity and good thermal conductivity of the oil help distribute heat evenly throughout the bath. A built-in temperature sensor continuously monitors the oil temperature, while the PID temperature control system automatically adjusts the heating power to maintain a stable and precise temperature. Some models are also equipped with a stirrer or circulation pump to further improve temperature uniformity.

Laboratory oil baths are widely used in chemical synthesis, including high-temperature condensation, polymerization, and reflux reactions; biopharmaceutical applications such as enzyme reactions and drug stability testing; materials science, including thermal aging tests and polymer processing; food quality testing, such as oil oxidation tests; and petrochemical applications, including oil sample pretreatment and viscosity measurements. They are particularly suitable for laboratory applications that require temperatures above 100°C together with precise temperature control.

When selecting a laboratory oil bath, several factors should be considered. The temperature range and accuracy should match the requirements of the experiment, with a typical temperature control accuracy of ±1°C. A 304 stainless steel inner chamber is preferred for its corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning. The appropriate bath capacity, typically ranging from 500 mL to 15 L, and the number and size of openings should be selected according to the number of samples and containers being used. Safety features such as dry-run protection and over-temperature alarms should also be considered.
